bio

Nace DeSanders is a film industry professional recognized for her work as a writer, director, and producer in the horror genre. She is currently based between Madrid, New York, and Los Angeles.

Nace identifies as an Afro-surrealist feminist horror filmmaker, an approach reflected in her works Infatuation, The Wounded and the Watcher, and Hello Sickness. Her films explore psychological horror, surrealism, and the inner worlds of Black womanhood, using genre storytelling to examine transformation, obsession, and identity. Her work has screened at international film festivals.

Nace is currently in post-production on the short film, Space Waste, and preparing her debut feature, Big Ears, while also developing a second feature, Recall.

Her filmmaking journey includes significant mentorship and industry training. She was selected for the Destroy All Boundaries Fellowship led by Adam Egypt Mortimer in 2021 and 2022, a program focused on supporting emerging horror filmmakers. In 2024, she participated in the Unlock Her Potential Mentorship Program, where she was mentored by Kelvin Harrison Jr. In 2025, she shadowed Marcus Stokes on The Hunting Party at NBC, gaining hands-on insight into episodic television directing and production. In 2026, Nace was accepted into the Plenty of Pie incubator program gaining hands on support to make her feature, Recall, ready for production.

In addition to her directing work, Nace has experience across several areas of the industry, including streaming, production services, and film festivals. She also served as Festival Manager for the International Queer Women of Color Film Festival, supporting emerging filmmakers and championing LBTQIA+ BIPOC storytellers.
